- Online singing coaching
- Extra help between lessons
Online lessons are not for every child. We help families decide whether this format is the right fit before committing to regular sessions.
A Thoughtful Approach
Is Online Studio Right for Your Child?
Online music tuition can be excellent, but it is not always the right fit for every child. At The Ravljen Method, we take a thoughtful approach and help families decide whether online support is suitable before committing to regular sessions.
Younger students, complete beginners, or children who find it difficult to focus on screen may need more support from a parent, or may benefit more from in-person lessons. Some instruments and early technical foundations are also easier to guide face to face.
For many students, however, TRM Online Studio works beautifully as a flexible extension of their musical education — especially for ABRSM preparation, aural training, sight-reading, music theory, singing coaching and extra support between regular lessons.
Good for focused support
Online sessions work especially well when there is a clear goal, such as an exam, audition, theory grade or aural test.
Not always ideal for very young beginners
Younger children may need a parent nearby to help with focus, materials and setup during the lesson.
Useful alongside in-person lessons
Many students use online sessions for extra support between regular in-home lessons, especially before exams or performances.
Online Studio Focus
What Works Especially Well Online?
TRM Online Studio is designed around the areas of music learning that can be taught effectively, clearly and flexibly online.
ABRSM Exam Preparation
Focused online sessions can help students prepare for ABRSM practical exams, performance grades and final exam polishing. Students can work on repertoire, confidence, musical detail and exam readiness.
Aural Training
Aural tests can be difficult to practise alone. Online coaching helps students build listening skills, pitch awareness, rhythm, memory and exam-style responses in a structured way.
Sight-Reading & Sight-Singing
Short, regular online sessions can be very effective for sight-reading and sight-singing. These skills improve through consistency, guidance and calm repetition.
Music Theory
Theory is one of the strongest areas for online learning. Students can prepare for ABRSM theory exams, including Grade 5 theory, with clear structure and individual support.
Singing Coaching
Online singing lessons can work very well for many students, especially for technique, confidence, repertoire, musical theatre, classical singing, pop, Disney songs and audition preparation.
Extra Support Between Lessons
Online sessions can be used as check-ins between regular in-home lessons, helping students stay motivated, prepared and confident before exams, concerts or auditions.

A Simple, Thoughtful Online Journey
We help families choose the right format before beginning regular online support. The process is calm, personal and designed around the student.
Send an enquiry
Tell us about your child, their age, level, instrument, goals and whether you are looking for exam support, regular online lessons or a short discovery package.
We recommend the right format
We consider whether online learning is likely to suit your child and suggest the most appropriate option, such as singing coaching, ABRSM support, theory, aural or a discovery session.
Begin with a discovery session or package
A discovery session helps us understand the student’s focus, confidence, learning style and next steps before a longer-term plan is agreed.
Continue if it feels right
If online support is a good fit, students can continue with regular sessions, short-term exam preparation or occasional booster lessons alongside in-person tuition.
Simple Setup
What You Need for Online Studio
TRM Online Studio is designed to be simple and accessible from home. Most students only need a quiet space, a reliable internet connection and the right materials for their lesson.
For younger students, we recommend having a parent nearby at the beginning of the lesson to help with setup, focus and any music or backing tracks needed.
A laptop, tablet or phone
A device with a clear camera and sound is usually enough for most online sessions.
A quiet space
Students should be somewhere calm, comfortable and free from distractions where possible.
Your instrument or music materials
This may include a piano, keyboard, sheet music, theory book, exam pieces or backing tracks.
Parent support for younger children
Younger students may benefit from a parent nearby to help them settle and stay focused.
Parent Questions
Online Studio FAQs
We know parents often have questions about online music tuition. These are the questions families most commonly ask before beginning TRM Online Studio.
Will my child focus online?
Some children focus very well online, especially older students or those with clear goals such as exams, auditions, theory or aural work. Younger students may need a parent nearby to help with setup, attention and materials.
Is online music tuition as good as in-person tuition?
It depends on the student, instrument and goal. In-person lessons are often best for young beginners and detailed technical work. Online lessons can be excellent for singing, theory, aural training, sight-reading, exam preparation and additional support between regular lessons.
Are online lessons suitable for young children?
Sometimes, but not always. Younger children may need more parent support and may find it harder to concentrate on screen. We usually recommend beginning with a discovery session before committing to regular online lessons.
Do online lessons cost less?
Not necessarily. Online lessons still require the same level of preparation, expertise and individual attention from the tutor. In some cases, online sessions may be shorter or packaged differently, but they are not simply a cheaper version of in-person tuition.
Can online lessons support ABRSM exams?
Yes. Online lessons can be very effective for ABRSM exam preparation, especially for aural tests, sight-reading, sight-singing, theory, performance grades and final exam polishing.
Can we use Online Studio alongside in-person lessons?
Yes. This is often one of the best uses of TRM Online Studio. Students can continue their regular in-person tuition and use online sessions for extra support, exam preparation, aural, theory, sight-reading or singing coaching.
Can students outside London use TRM Online Studio?
Yes. TRM Online Studio is designed for families who want access to The Ravljen Method wherever they are based, whether outside London, elsewhere in the UK or internationally.
